Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol. I've endeavored to capture the moment of Jacob Marley's ghost visiting Scrooge on Christmas eve with the intent of saving Scrooge from making the same mistakes as he did. I know the story by heart and loves each and every character. In this maquette I wanted to portray the emotion of each character. Scrooge's terrified face and body expression is alive with fear. While Jacob Marley is truly concerned and desperate to help his friend. The dynamic energy created in this piece is magnetic.
Marley's Ghost is made entirely by hand and with exquisite detail. My wife Joan built the furniture using hardwoods like maple and mahogany. The characters are my original sculptures made with polymer clay. Marley's face and hands are sculpted with luminescent clay and glow in the dark. Both faces are hand painted. Clothing is rich in texture and smartly adorned with Swarovski crystals, delicate ribbons, shiny chains and baubles. My signature adorns this piece and guarantees the craftsmanship. Designed to last for generations this small piece of Christmas art will become a family heirloom.
